Happy New Year my loves! I hope your 2017 has been off to a great start. It feels like I've been gone for ages, but the time away was very much needed - to reflect, plan and recharge. I'm so grateful I got to spend the break with family in Chicago and upon getting back to Seattle, it's been catching up with work, getting back in shape (had way too much jollof rice in Chicago, et je ne regrette rien!), and reconnecting with friends.

Over the weekend, my girl Temi and I went out to brunch and she suggested we go to this restaurant in Fremont - Restaurant Roux, and as expected with all of Temi's recommendations, the food was amazing! They had the most delicious eggs benedict I've ever had, served on warm freshly baked corn bread with fried chicken, hollandaise, creole home fries and all that goodness!

Anyway, enough of the food talk -  As you may know by now, I love burgundy/maroon/oxblood, essentially that color palette. I find it so rich and sophisticated, and I decided to build a contrast against lace with this outfit. I got this dress at one of my favorite stores - Free People and I love everything about it. It's such a good balance of romance (with the lace material and bell sleeves) and edge (with the choker and V-shaped front cutout). The swingy silhouette also makes it easier to style for both layer-up and hot weathers, which is another great way to add versatility to your closet.

On a more personal note, I decided not to make any strict or specific new year resolutions this year, other than more intentionally pursuing my curiosity and all that brings me joy. So far, it's been so liberating and has ironically made me more motivated, creative and excited about living out my dreams and above all, it has helped me focus more on gratitude. With that, here's to all of us living more authentically, and paying more attention to experiences and people that make our hearts delight. I hope your 2017 is filled with hope, love and light! Xx.

Stay Smart; Stay Beautiful,

-Onivie
