It's a Sunday morning (even though you're probably reading this on a Monday). My Breathe in the Good Shit by N & K candle is lit (it has the loveliest musky scent) with La Vie En Rose - Louis Armstrong playing, and I feel like I'm back in New Orleans. I had strong holiday blues after returning from Essence Festival in July, because New Orleans is simply one of the most magical cities, and attending Essence was the cherry on top. In many ways I relate to New Orleans, a partly rugged city that is filled with so much authentic beauty. It's been through a lot, yet the people there are so positive, kind, and passionate about their craft. Almost everyone we met felt like family.

Our mornings were filled with attending workshops, listening to Mary J Blige, Queen Latifah, Ava Duvernay, Jada Pinkett Smith, and other king women, speak on their career paths, and offer life advice. And at night, we had an amazing line up of concerts, from legends like Diana Ross to more modern day artists like Chance the Rapper.

Outside of the festival, we spent our afternoons exploring theFrench Quarter, eating good Cajun food, and just soaking in the experience. Maybe I'll write a guideline to New Orleans post soon, there's so much to go over about our experience but in the meantime, hope you enjoy this mini photo-diary above of our time there, and the first part of our vlog below:
